By means of a joint appointment procedure (TUM-Leibniz), Professor Dr. Dr. Thomas Hofmann was appointed W3 Professor for Food Chemistry, allocated to the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan (TUM). At the same time, the professorship was re-named into Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science and the Board of Trustees of the Leibniz Institute appointed Professor Dr. Dr. Thomas Hofmann ex officio Scientific Director of the Leibniz-LSB@TUM. Mrs. Gabriele Seiche as Head of Administration is responsible to professionally run the financial and administrative issues of the Leibniz-LSB@TUM.
The newly organized Leibniz-LSB@TUM consists of three research sections and two technology units. The research sections collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects, while the technology units contribute with their technical competence to the success of central research projects.
In addition, the Institute will also support the work of Independent Research Group Leaders through close integration in the cutting-edge infrastructure, including financial, technical, and staff support.
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Unit will continue the further development of the Souci – Fachmann – Kraut Food Composition and Nutrition Tables as scientific service.
